Early Childhood Social Worker – Staten Island based

Partnership with Children works with public schools in New York City’s highest-need communities to provide critical social and emotional supports for the hardest-to-reach youth and to systematically build schools that are safe, successful and conducive to learning. The Social Worker will work specifically with PreK and Kindergarten students to provide ongoing support to the students, families and school community. Social Workers have an on-site Partnership with Children MSW supervisor.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual counseling and case management
  • Facilitate group counseling (individually or with co-facilitator)
  • Collaborate with school administration and staff on needs of students, families and school community
  • Integrate into and engage with school culture through development of positive relationships with school community
  • Conduct home visits
  • Support students and families in crisis
  • May have opportunity to task supervise social work interns
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • New York State LMSW from an accredited school of social work
  • At least one year’s experience in school setting, strong experience working with students and families preferred
  • Work in fast-paced environment, flexible and can-do attitude
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
  • Must be able to pass criminal background check and clearance by NYC Department of Education

Hours:

  • Full-time, occasional weeknight and Saturday hours
  • Year-round position (summer location and duties will vary)
