About the position: First Book currently serves more than 85,000 local Members—including a broad range of Title 1 schools, after-school and before-school programs, shelters, literacy initiatives, and other programs serving children in need. The Membership Services Coordinator’s main responsibility is to ensure clear and smooth communication between First Book, our Members, and the communities we serve. Specifically, this person will answer Member email inquiries and phone calls, manage billing and book order questions/processes, coordinate Member emails and other communications, handle data entry projects, work closely with other members of the Membership Services Coordinator’s team, and handle other special projects as assigned.

Essential duties and responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Receive, research, and resolve queries from Recipient Groups while acting as their liaison to First Book
  • Maintain frequent communication with Members via telephone and email
  • Educate new and existing Members about the First Book mission and model
  • Update, track, and record information in databases and contact management systems relating to orders, invoices, inquiries and other pieces of information
  • Manage the tracking of books, invoices, payments and other items for specific partner groups
  • Prepare, review and maintain targeted and mass communications with First Book’s Membership network
  • Complete special projects as assigned. Some examples of projects: working on campaigns with other First Book departments, facilitating Member grant programs, providing research to advance First Book initiatives, designing book collections for the First Book Marketplace, supporting launch of new programs, helping plan events

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience working with volunteers and/or community-service groups encouraged
