Reporting to the Regional Director of Corporate Engagement, the Employment Placement Manager will serve as part of Year Up’s Corporate Engagement team and will play a pivotal role in identifying, securing and filling job opportunities with Year Up alumni. In addition, s/he will manage accounts and relationships, while also preparing and coaching alumni through the job search and interview process. This person will also work closely with Year Up Professional Resources (YUPRO), a Public Benefit Corporation focused on providing career opportunities to Year Up alumni, to share and strengthen hiring partner relationships.

You will be comfortable creating, managing and leveraging relationships with Year Up alumni, partners and potential employers to identify employment opportunities for Year Up graduates. As an ideal candidate for this position, you will be someone who enjoys working with both internal and external stakeholders, and can effectively tailor your communication style to diverse audiences.

Key Responsibilities:
Sales Activities

  • Secure and fill up to 80 job requisitions annually to be filled by Year Up graduates to meet organizational positive outcomes goals
  • Build and maintain a portfolio of hiring company partners
  • Create and maintain an annual sales plan to secure job opportunities for alumni
  • Develop and maintain account plans for major accounts
  • Promote Year Up graduates to hiring companies (contract and permanent) through in person and phone-based sales presentations
  • Perform regular check-ins with partners to address partner concerns and to gather feedback on alumni hire performance
  • Partner with the Corporate Engagement team to understand the hiring requirements of partners

Job Placement

  • Conduct position assessments with hiring companies
  • Maintain a database of job opportunities
  • Work collaboratively with Year Up’s Program team to identify potential Year Up interns/alumni for specific job opportunities and provide input on hiring requirements
  • Occasionally present to Year Up students on job search readiness
  • Evaluate alumni strengths against the requirements of hiring company requirements through evaluating, screening and interviewing prospective candidates
  • Complete appropriate reference checks (internal and external to Year Up)
  • Perform continuous follow-up with candidates and hiring companies through regular check-ins and account management
  • Prepare graduates for all aspects of the interview process including: ensuring graduate has researched company and job opportunity, has appropriate interviewing skills, revised resume, etc.
  • Maintain[[http:Salesforce.com|Salesforce.com]] to reflect all employment outcomes
  • Collaborate with YUPRO to increase their staffing contracts through partner introductions

Site Team/Learning Community Member

  • Serve as an advisor/mentor for a small number of current students
  • Join and sometimes facilitate weekly group sessions with students
  • Participate in staff meetings and trainings


  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in sales and account management in a related staffing role
  • Bachelor’s degree typical/preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of enterprise staffing requirements
  • Ability to leverage relationships and events to cultivate new relationships
  • Eagerness/ability to identify challenges and implement solutions
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Impeccable professional customer service skills with exceptional follow up and follow through
  • Ability to take initiative and manage multiple tasks and projects at one time, delivering within deadlines
  • A professional and resourceful style with the ability to work independently
  • Comfortable in a close-knit, team-oriented setting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
