Chapter Relations Coordinator

Reports to: Executive Director

Purpose: Provide guidance, assistance, and resources to volunteer chapters across the United States, consistent with the mission and vision of the national DIL organization. Advise chapter leaders on day-to-day functions of a chapter and work with chapter volunteers to ensure continued growth and consistency of the DIL brand.

Duties and responsibilities:

Chapter Communications and Marketing

  • Field chapter inquires
  • Keep chapter handbook and event guide current, identifying gaps and improvements
  • Keep chapters updated with DIL’s current work and stories by providing regular communications via newsletters and personal chapter outreach
  • Promote DIL’s mission and vision statement to chapters
  • Communicate policy, direction, best practices and requirements of national DIL organization to the chapters
  • Monitor chapter marketing and communications regularly to ensure proper representation of the DIL brand by local chapters
  • Maintain chapter information and chapter pages on agency website
  • Promote chapter events through all appropriate channels
  • Oversight of print materials such as invitations as well as digital marketing such as sending eblasts, creating event websites and assisting with social media updates and campaigns
  • Provide chapters with fundraising materials such as solicitation letters, sponsorship packets, print invitations and mission-related marketing materials
  • Promote national initiatives to chapters and assist with local implementation

Chapter Event Support

  • Develop professional relationships with existing chapter leaders in order to provide ongoing logistical support for chapter initiatives, campaigns and fundraising events
  • Provide oversight of event budget creation
  • Identify potential new geographic areas for DIL chapters and provide outreach
  • Assist chapters in building strategic partnerships in their community to help raise awareness and funding for DIL

Chapter Training and Education

  • Identify training needs of individual chapters and facilitate virtual and in-person trainings for chapters throughout the year
  • Connect chapter leaders with leadership development resources and other chapter leaders to facilitate sharing of best practices
  • Oversee the annual chapter retreat in Irvine, including developing content, organizing logistics and facilitating the event and extra-curricular activities for chapter members who attend

Board/Committee Support

  • Provide staff support to Board and committee meetings, including preparation of event and fundraising related reports

Coordinate National Walk to Educate

  • Recruit and train chapter Walk coordinators and chapter Walk committees
  • Identify partnerships with leading national organizations
  • Perform outreach and appropriate follow up in collaboration with other staff
  • Coordinate national Walk to Educate marketing efforts
  • Manage budget for the event
  • Evaluate the regional events

Administrative Duties

  • Answer telephones and transfer to appropriate staff member when necessary
  • Perform general clerical duties, including photocopying, faxing, mailing, and filing
  • Maintain hard copy and electronic filing system
  • Support staff in assigned project based work


  • A university degree or equivalent education and/or experience
  • 2 years project management and/or volunteer coordination experience
  • Event management and fundraising experience a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office computer programs, database management, online marketing tools and back-end website management
  • Social media saavy
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Customer-service oriented
  • Ability to interact effectively with volunteers, donors, Board members, staff and the general public
