Essential Functions:
Coordinate program activities, outreach and growth for the Senior Programs based on a holistic wellness model. Provider referrals and case management to patrons as needed.
Job Description
Duties:
- Design programs to meet the needs and interests of patrons
- Implement, evaluate, and provide support for all Senior Programs
- Oversee congregate dining meal program and ensure compliance with the Golden Diners program requirements
- Recruit, train, and supervise congregate dining volunteers and recreational programming volunteers
- Develop and oversee program and events budgets
- Serve as an agency representative to appropriate community groups, agencies and organizations
- Prepare monthly reports on program activities
- Supervise interns and/or senior employees. Identify areas of staffing needs, and seek out cost-efficient ways of filling those needs utilizing volunteers, interns or senior employees
- Utilize the database MySeniorCenter to maintain accurate records and to prepare monthly reports on the program participation of patrons and volunteers
- Coordinate the provision of wrap around services and referral services to patrons
- Work with communications staff to develop marketing materials for Senior Service programs and the monthly calendar
- Provide ongoing cultural competency training for staff, volunteers, interns and service providers
- Conduct outreach activities to promote the Senior Services to other service providers
- Work with operations staff to ensure that the physical space is accessible for older adults and is arranged in accordance with the requirements for programs
- Observe existing policies and procedures and develop new policies and procedures as required
- Coordinate the creation, distribution and evaluation of patron satisfaction surveys
- Facilitate regular communication with patrons and volunteers
- Participate in conferences as they relate to senior services

Results – proven track record of exceeding goals and bottom-line orientation; evidence of the ability to consistently make good decisions through a combination of analysis wisdom, expereince, and judgement and the ablity to balance the delivery of programs against the realities of a budget; program solving, program manangement, and creative resourcesfulness
Strategic Vision and Agility – ablity to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into the organizational plan
Leadership and Volunteer Management – exceptional capcity for managing an leading volunteers; ablity to motivate and engage volunteers; cacacity to enforce accountablity; ability to develop and employ stategies to empopwer volunteers
Action Oriented – enjoys working hard and looks for challenges; able to act and react as necessary, even if limited information is available; not afraid to take charge of a situation
Time Management– ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and to meet deadlines
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to the mission of Center on Halsted
Flexible schedule – ability to work on Saturdays and some weekday evenings
Lesbian, gay bisexual, transgender sensitivity – demonstrates proficiency on the unique needs of LGBT older adults
HIV awareness – previous experience working the HIV-positive community and training on HIV transmission and prevention helpful
Communication skills – excellent verbal and written ability; bilingual skills (Spanish / English ) highly desirable
Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field at minimum, Master’s degree in human services or related field preferred
