Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator

Position Overview:

The Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all recruiting and community outreach activities for CASA of San Mateo County. The Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator develops an active and on-going recruitment plan for new volunteers. The position will require evening work as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement recruitment activities for potential CASA volunteers
  • Prepare an annual recruitment plan, coordinated with the Program Director and Executive Director.
  • Maintain and expand CASA’s presence on social media
  • Maintain statistics on CASA Volunteer recruitment efforts
  • Develop recruitment strategies for attracting male, African-American, and Hispanic/Latino volunteers
  • Create annual calendar for orientations/information sessions, in coordination with the training schedule
  • Deliver 15-20 1-hour long Orientation sessions annually
  • Prepare and submit recruitment posters and ad copy for scheduled media per communications plan
  • Identify personal approaches to enhance volunteer retention; e.g. birthday card, special recognition
  • Work with fundraising staff to maintain consistency of messaging in outreach effort
  • Other duties as required


  • BA/BS degree required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to excite and motivate people about the work of CASA of San Mateo County
  • Experience and comfort with presenting information to small and large groups
  • Available for flexible work hours, including evenings and weekends for recruitment activities.
  • Respectful of all people regardless of socioeconomic background, culture, race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, or gender
  • Ability to assess needs and chart a course to accomplish relevant goals
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to adapt and respond to different group dynamics in a professional and timely manner
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Motivate and encourage prospective volunteers
  • Explain clearly and concisely the mission and expectations that CASA has for its volunteers
  • Adapt to a changing environment with the ability to respond to and manage crisis with calm, mindful approach
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office) and ability to learn new software as needed

Other Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of San Mateo County
  • Previous experience working with volunteers
  • Knowledge and understanding of child abuse and neglect, families in crisis, and other social services skills
  • Biliterate (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
