Overview of position:
The office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees was established on December 14, 1950 by the United Nations General Assembly. The agency is mandated to lead and co-ordinate international action to protect refugees and resolve refugee problems worldwide. Its primary purpose is to safeguard the rights and wellbeing of refugees. It also has a mandate to help stateless people.
In more than five decades, the agency has helped more than tens of millions of people restart their lives. Today a staff of some 6,600 people in more than 110 countries continue to help more than 34 million persons. To help and protect some of the world’s most vulnerable people in so many places and types of environment.
The objective for this is to provide project management supervision services in one of the refugee campsites in Souda.
Provide administrative and program support to field colleagues
Report on deliverables; objectives and outputs in a timely and frequent manner to UNHCR.
Report to UNHCR on an ad hoc basis as necessary.
Manage budgets and support accountant in preparing relevant paperwork on a monthly basis.
Support in hiring staff, as necessary, to fill any vacant positions.
This role reports to the Project Director.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Experience of working remotely and in areas of risk
Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience in project management and Ability to work in a multi-national/cultural environment.
Ability to work in a gender-equal and multi-cultural environment.
Experience working on projects for both an internal and an external audience.
Experience working in aid or development.
Experience in dealing with local and national institutions (Government, Military and Police etc.)
Ability to travel (subject to security clearance).
Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Office and/or newer versions) and in handling of web-based management systems.
