Who We Are

We’re experienced, newly licensed, and aspiring teachers committed to serving Nevada’s high-needs schools. If you are interested in charting a new future for Nevada’s students, join us.

Nevada Teacher Corps (NTC) is an ambitious, teacher-centered effort to invigorate struggling Nevada schools with great teaching and leadership.

We find exceptional candidates with the skills and drive to work in high-needs schools, and then connect them with our partner principals to find a great school fit. As part of a collective effort to end inequity in Nevada schools, our teachers share our passion for ensuring that every student in Nevada receives an excellent education.

Who We Want

We’re looking for recent graduates of teacher preparation programs and experienced teachers with valuable classroom experience who want to join a larger movement of highly effective teachers in Nevada.

We’re currently recruiting for teachers who are licensed in the critical-need subject areas of Secondary Math and Secondary Science.

Benefits of Nevada Teacher Corps

Employment opportunities.

Instead of hunting down vacancies school by school, NTC teachers are added to a centralized pool that connects them with principals who are looking for teachers like them—teachers who are committed to expanding opportunities for Nevada students.

Teach where you’re needed most.

We serve Nevada’s highest-need schools, where too many children start behind and struggle to catch up. We are dedicated to ensuring every Nevada student receives a great education. If you believe in the ability to transform a student’s life through teaching, we want to meet you.

Professional development.

We are committed to helping you develop into a highly effective teacher. Newly licensed teachers will attend a paid summer residency program centered on real practice: teaching in a summer school classroom alongside an experienced, collaborative teacher. You will study proven teaching techniques and then practice them intensively, both with peers and with real students in summer school classrooms.

Qualifications and eligibility for Nevada Teacher Corps:

Must have bachelor’s degree by June 2017

Must have current, valid elementary educator license by June 2017*

Must be able to pass an FBI background investigation

Must meet all Nevada testing requirements by June 2017

  • Licenses include Initial, Standard, Professional, or out-of-state equivalents with reciprocity through the Nevada Department of Education. Those with Substitute and Paraprofessional licenses should apply to our Fellows program instead.
