The National Wildlife Federation seeks a Public Lands Digital Media Intern for our Denver, CO office. We seek a motivated individual for this 48 week, paid, full-time position. For those looking to establish themselves in the environmental and conservation field, the National Wildlife Federation (NWF) intern program is a fantastic opportunity. NWF is the nation’s largest member-supported conservation organization, working to combat climate change, reconnect our children with nature, and protect America’s wildlife and habitat.
The intern will assist our team to build support within the outdoor recreation and hunting and fishing communities for conservation of habitat on western public lands. In addition, the intern will support the development and maintenance of online outreach to NWF members and supporters regarding the conservation of fish and wildlife habitat and public lands.
This position will work directly with our public lands staff including our Sportsmen Online Advocacy Senior Coordinator as well as other NWF staff and partners in the conservation and sportsmen’s communities through online communications. This work includes maintaining social media platforms, drafting text for and scheduling social media posts and alerts, and tracking social media data (post and ad performance, action alerts, blog views). In addition the Digital Media Intern will work with staff to implement digital engagement and outreach campaigns via social media and email. The position also includes helping to coordinate the office’s participation in sportsmen events, including scheduling staff volunteers, tabling events and managing data entry of show attendees. You will also work with a community manager to maintain the Rocky Mountain Regional Office social properties, including featuring upcoming events, education and other programmatic and regional stories.
- Working knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Medium
- Strong writing, editing and research skills
- Interest in learning more about digital communications and advocacy
- Highly organized
- Able to work independently
- Able to work on multiple projects
- Working knowledge of GoogleDocs and Microsoft Office
- Working knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign and Canva
- Working knowledge of WordPress
- Some HTML knowledge
- Interest in or knowledge of conservation issues
- Interest in or knowledge of interest to sportsmen and women
- Interest in data analysis for digital performance and outcomes
This internship requires a BA/BS in a policy, political science, new media or a communications related field. Our candidates must have excellent writing and research skills, and the ability to work independently. Experience in or demonstrated commitment to environmental advocacy is a plus.
