The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation – the world’s leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis, and one of the most innovative and successful organizations of its kind – is seeking a Senior Case Manager to join our Compass team.

We are a nonprofit, donor-supported organization that has raised and invested hundreds of millions of dollars to help develop cystic fibrosis therapies that have changed the lives of people with this disease. Nearly every CF medicine available today was made possible because of Foundation support.

Based in Bethesda, Md., the Foundation created, funds and accredits a national network of cystic fibrosis care centers that have been recognized by the National Institutes of Health as a model of care for a chronic disease.

Position Overview:

The Senior Case Manager helps patients and families navigate the complicated healthcare system. The position is a support to the CF community with the goal of helping the patient and family obtain the care and resources needed to maintain health. The Senior Case Manager will help reduce barriers that keep patients from getting timely treatment by identifying patient needs and directing them to sources of clinical, financial, or social support.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Senior Case Manager reviews, assessed, and supports patient cases referred to Compass for patient assistance related to insurance, financial, legal and other needs. Conduct intake, screening, assessment, coverage and reimbursement/prior authorization/appeal research and triage to appropriate resources for customers who contact Compass. Identify and refer to national, state and local resources to help troubleshoot customers’ needs. Support other activities within the team to support facilitation of access.

Candidate must have at least 5 years’ experience in a healthcare environment. This includes experience in healthcare coverage and reimbursement, customer service and/or helping navigate life with a chronic disease. Strong computer skills are necessary – Microsoft CRM, MS Word, Excel, and MS Outlook. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
