Somalia: Senior Project Manager Somalia

Main tasks:

  • Co-manage the overall functioning of the project “Strengthening federalism through conflict transformation: Community (re)conciliation and mediation support in the Somali State of Hirshabelle”
  • Plan and implement project activities on the ground in Somalia
  • Liaise with, and ensure coordination between partner(s), external experts, Somali stakeholders, and international and Somali organisations
  • Carry out, and contribute to, narrative reporting and activity-related financial planning
  • Monitor the political situation in Somalia
  • Take over oversight functions and provide guidance to project assistant(s)
    Qualifications:

  • MA degree or equivalent in political science, peace and security studies, or related fields

  • Proven expertise and work experience (5 years or more) in the field of reconciliation or mediation

  • Excellent knowledge of and proven work experience in Somalia

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Somali and English

Additional skills:

  • Good networker with the ability to engage with political leadership and civil society actors
  • Empathetic to partners and target groups
  • Ability to work under time-pressure and in quickly changing and demanding situations
