The UNICEF Internship Programme offers qualified and eligible students at both Headquarters (HQ) and Country Offices (CO) the unique opportunity to acquire direct practical experience in UNICEF’s work and the United Nations system under the direct supervision of experienced UNICEF staff.

To be considered for this internship with UNICEF, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • be enrolled in a degree programme in a undergraduateor graduate school; and
  • be proficient in English;and
  • have excellent academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records
  • Purpose of the internship:

    The New Talent Team is responsible for the acquisition and management of entry- and mid-career level talent. It manages programmes like the New and Emerging Talent Initiative (NETI), the Junior Professional Officer (JPO) programme, the UN Volunteers (UNV) and the Internship Programme. The unit also manages the outreach function and serves as a laboratory for new talent management initiatives.

    As part of its global talent management strategy, UNICEF launched the New and Emerging Talent Initiative (NETI) with a view to identifying and developing talent to meet the organization’s current and future needs. NETI focuses on attracting, selecting, developing and retaining external talent from entry to mid-management level, to grow and develop in the organization. The New Talent Team is currently preparing the recruitment drive for the 10th NETI cohort with an expected start date of selected participants in early 2018.     Under the supervision of the HR Officer, New Talent Team, the intern will:

  • Support the preparation and implementation of outreach campaigns, in particular, the NETI outreach campaign.
  • Support the design, administration and implementation of an extensive recruitment and selection campaign for UNICEF’s NETI Programme.
  • Assist in the creation of a data analysis including statistics and graphs on the NETI application process.
  • Support the management of the NETI career development portfolio: NETI coaching, mentoring and buddy programmes.
  • Support internal communication efforts, such as writing blogs and articles, and creating content for online communities.
  • Assist in strengthening the NETI alumni community network.
  • Assist in the implementation of a new talent relationship management concept.
  • Assist with the preparation and implementation of the NETI orientation programme.
  • Preferred start date: 1 June 2017, minimum duration 4 months, extension possible.

    We are flexible on the part time / full time status. Interested students should indicate their preference and possible start date in the cover letter.

    Qualifications:

  • A first-level university degree in human resources management, business or public administration, social sciences, or related field.
  • Fluency in English is required. Fluency in another official UN language is an asset.
  • Knowledge of relevant computer systems and applications; excellent knowledge of MS Office is required.
  • Experience in the field of Human Resources Management, in particular, outreach, recruitment and talent management is an asset.
