How can you make a difference?
Under the direct supervision of the Communication Specialist, the incumbent will assist in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating an advocacy and communication strategy that focuses on using digital and online media to get children’s and women’s issues into the public domain, strengthen political will in support of UNICEF’s mission and objectives in the country, enhance the organization’s credibility and brand, and support UNICEF’s fundraising activities in the country. This involves the further enhancement of existing social media and online media platforms and possible engagement on additional channels.
The key responsibilities include:
1. Communication Strategy
The production and dissemination of communication products and materials through social media and other digital platforms are timely executed and followed up to support the overall country communication strategy, regional and global campaigns and priorities, and to support resource mobilization as set out in the work plan.
2. Media relations
Strategic use of social media and other online media as well as multi-media products to engage journalists and media outlets to promote children’s rights and to communicate the situation of children and the story of UNICEF’s cooperation to a wider audience.
3. Multi-Media campaigns
Advocacy, communication and behavior change activities are supported through high-quality digital and multi-media campaigns.
4. Monitoring and evaluation
Regular monitoring and evaluation activities are undertaken according to the work plan to ensure maximum impact and continuous improvement of digital communication and multi-media efforts. Results and reports are prepared and shared on a timely basis.
5. Partners, donors and special events
Engage individuals, groups, organizations and fora (including Government, UN, bilateral and private sector counterparts), who are active on social media platforms to support UNICEF’s advocacy, communication and fundraising objectives for children’s rights and to actively participate in special events and activities that further the country programme goals.
