Donor Relations & Fundraising Officer

Based in Geneva

Starting date: January 2018

The small donor relations and fundraising team ensures that HD’s income meets the organisation’s needs. It develops and maintains best possible relations with government and private donors, produces proposals and reports to core donors, and supports programme staff across regions in their efforts to secure funding.

HD seeks to recruit a Fundraising & Donor Relations Officer to work directly with the head of the department. The role will involve working across HD’s teams and management structure, including with the Executive Director, COO and Regional Directors, and offers cross-cutting insight of HD’s work across all regions. Aiming to improve working relations with donors and increasing fundraising success, the Fundraising & Donor Relations Officer will be responsible for wide-ranging activities including to:

  • Co-ordinate the preparation of cross-organisational proposals and funding reports;

  • Manage and improve HD’s understanding of donor interests and share knowledge and details through SharePoint and CRM tools;

  • Organise donor-related events including informal briefings and a small number of formal events;

  • Review new grants and oversee their entry into HD’s administrative system;

  • Liaise with key donor focal points;

  • Support fundraising campaigns especially efforts to increase philanthropic support.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate should have:

  • Excellent project management and editing skills;

  • Strong donor relations or business development experience;

  • A passionate interest in HD’s work;

  • Enjoy a small but dynamic team setting.

Personality: The successful candidate will thrive in a small team, across a diverse organisation, supporting colleagues to achieve HD’s mission. Working closely with the head of the department s/he will be at ease in a dynamic role to ensure funding for peace grows and that HD is strongly supported by its donors.
