For every child, a geographically mobile & diverse workforce
The post-holder will act as focal point to drive strategic growth of private philanthropy among High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI) and Foundations in the Latin America and Caribbean region. The post-holder will directly oversee cultivation and solicitation of the highest value prospects for UNICEF among high net worth individuals in line with the global HNWI prospect list, and global foundations strategy. The post-holder will coordinate effectively with corporate and major donor fundraisers as well as technical programme and advocacy colleagues in country offices in the region and the regional office, and collaborate closely with Regional Support Centre staff working on market development issues, offering strategic advice where needed. The post-holder will not have responsibility for core capacity building of UNICEF offices. The role will be outward-facing, focused on building the highest-value philanthropic partnerships for UNICEF within the Latin America and Caribbean region.
How can you make a difference?
Collaborating with UNICEF’s Global Philanthropy team in New York and Geneva, the Regional Support Centre in Panama and countries across the region to develop high value and realistic prospect lists of HWNI potential donors in the Latin America and Caribbean region with key attributes of Ability, Accessibility, and Affinity.
Develop and action cultivation plans for prospects, engaging participation of country office and regional office leadership and programme heads.
Accountability for realization of HNWI income goals for the Latin America and Caribbean region.
In line with the Global Foundations strategy, and collaborating effectively with New York- and Geneva-based foundation officers (notably Senior Adviser, Global Philanthropy in New York) and local countries, engage key private foundations in the Latin America and Caribbean region through dialogue, consultations and events, leading where appropriate to the development and negotiation of bespoke high value foundation partnerships.
Accountability for effective engagement of designated priority foundations, contributing to realization of global foundation income targets.
3. Philanthropic Partnership Relationship Management
Support relationship management activities for global philanthropic partners led by the Global Philanthropy team, and act as focal point for relationship management activities with region-based philanthropic partners, supporting realization of global HNWI and foundation income targets.
4. Financial Innovation
Collaborate with Geneva-based Partnerships Manager (Financial Innovation Lab) and NY-based Global Philanthropy team, in thedevelopment and marketing of Financial Innovation products adapted for the Latin America and Caribbean region,supporting realization of global HWNI and foundation income targets.
5. Strategic Philanthropic Resource to RSC team in market development
Provide strategic input and support to Chief, Private Sector Fundraising and Regional Support Centre team in the Latin America and Caribbean Regional Office on issues related to market development and strategic planning for philanthropy activities as well as integrated regional fundraising campaigns in the region.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
Education:Advanced university degree in international affairs, development, journalism, finance, public or business administration or closely related fields required. A first level university degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
Experience:Minimum eight years’ of progressively senior experience in philanthropic fundraising is required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in direct relationship cultivation and management of high value philanthropic partnerships (in excess of $10 million. Related work experience in Latin America and the Caribbean a valuable asset. Familiarity with and exposure to UNICEF programmes are highly desirable.
Language Requirements:Fluency in English with excellent written skills is required. Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese an asset.
