This post is responsible for the development and implementation of strategies which acquire high volumes of new quality donors and deliver net income to the organization. Managing and overseeing different techniques, including new initiatives, the pledge acquisition and face-2-face programme in order to ensure the growth of pledge donor. Ultimately the role is responsible for increasing the number of new people supporting UNICEF and maximizing net income.
1. Strategic Planning:
In consultation with Chief of Fundraising, provides strategic insights into the Fundraising Strategic Plan (FSP). As part of the FSP is responsible for developing the acquisition strategy in line with global guidelines and best practices. Provides ongoing input for new budget and latest estimates and makes recommendations to adjust strategy as needed to ensure income and donor numbers remain on target to achieve goals.
2. Data Driven Strategy:
Performs reporting of income, expenditure and budget utilization relating to the acquisition area. Monitors and evaluates the performance of each fundraising activity and reviewing the overall operation of the unit to ensure the smoothness and identifying the gap to be strengthened; collects data and prepares information, reports and presentation on income, expenditure and budget utilization including progress vis a vis the workplan and targets. Develops investment fund applications, monitors fund utilization and prepares required reporting in a timely and effective manner.
3. Donor Acquisition and Innovation:
Under the guidance of the supervisor, leads the acquisition programme with a focus on pledge donors to grown un-earmarked funds for the country programme and RR. Develops and implements effective acquisition strategies across channels, utilizing and maximizing a variety of fundraising techniques. This includes scoping and testing of new channels and initiatives with the objective of identifying new additional, sustainable high-volume income streams and to diversify acquisition activity. Looks for innovative new ways to reach, engage and acquire donors.
4. Strategic Direction:
Provides an oversight on implementation of various fundraising techniques contributing to donor acquisition purpose which includes but not limited to strategic direction and operational support to agencies, contractors (in-house F2F team) and suppliers engaged to support the donor acquisition program and ensures that they perform at high standards. Evaluates their performance in order to ensure deliverables are met prior to payment.
Designs and optimizes efficient payment processes for acquisition purposes.
Supports the development and nurturing other fundraising work which supporting acquisition activities, including those providing pathways to pledge. Participates in meetings and workshops with various private/public sector organizations and events that facilitate the implementation of strategies and tactics for the private sector fundraising.
Manages acquisition related suppliers and contractors to maximize results. This includes briefing, training and motivation of outsourced staff or others representing UNICEF such as F2F fundraisers and telemarketers.
5. Lead and Manage Acquisition Team / Capacity Building
Effective management and development of staff/consultants under supervision. Provides day-to-day support for the team and individuals. Develops clear performance evaluation plans and monitors performance. Provides coaching and assistance to individual team members as required. Builds a healthy, respectful work environment that is conducive to staff well-being. Ensures that all staff are aware of individual and collective responsibilities in accordance with UNICEF’s Policies.
