About us

ODI (www.odi.org.uk) aims to inspire and inform policy and practice to reduce poverty by locking together high-quality applied research and practical policy advice.

We are excited to announce an opportunity to enhance the business development and operations of the Politics and Governance Programme. Our programme of innovative research and advisory work addresses how politics and power shape policies and their impact, how services are delivered, and how institutions work, in developmental as well as conflict-affected situations. This role is key to delivering and informing the strategy and operations of this dynamic and diverse team of researchers and partners, both in the UK and in our international network.

We are looking to appoint an experienced business development professional to enhance our fundraising capacity and activities. The role involves identifying, reviewing and responding to calls for proposals, as well as seeking new sources of unrestricted funding. The ideal candidate will provide analysis to the programme management team on funding flows to inform decisions regarding resourcing for the programme. The Programme Development Manager will also oversee the day-to-day operational management of the programme through developing policies, procedures and tools to ensure that we deliver on our obligations to our funders and the institute.

About you

We are looking for an individual with excellent experience and knowledge of the development funding landscape, with a focus on research, particularly in relation to commercial requirements. You will have experience in writing proposal responses through competitive processes as well as propositional approaches. You will have extensive knowledge and experience of managing a programme of work consisting of a varied portfolio of projects including small, medium and major and multi-year donor-funded programmes/projects. This project management knowledge should include experience of establishing complex financial/management processes and techniques in order to provide analysis and inform strategic decisions.
