  • Background

    UNICEF Maldives Country Office entered into a new Programme of Cooperation (2016-2020) with the Government of Maldives. As its contribution to the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) 2016-2020, the overall goal of the current Country Programme is to support the Government of Maldives to reduce inequalities and disparities and achieve progressive realization of the rights of all children, especially the most vulnerable. In line with the UNICEF Strategic Plan 2018–2021, the the Country Officer will continue to build partnerships with key social sectors and partners at all levels through advocacy, communication and campaigning. The country programme design adopts an evidence-based, policy advocacy and institutional strengthening approach in addressing the barriers that affect the most disadvantaged.

    To translate this commitment to child rights and equity into resources and action for children, UNICEF Maldives Country Office (MCO) through the implementation of the Country Programme Document (CPD), will build a more coordinated, consistent, communication and public advocacy operation that both embraces and leads change.

    To support visibility and highlight its main results to be achieved for disadvantaged and vulnerable Maldivian children, UNICEF MCO intends to develop and disseminate a package of both printed and digital communication and outreach products with a view to promote and strategically position child rights and wellbeing in the national agenda.

    In order to achieve this result, UNICEF MCO is seeking a qualified national consultant to support the design, branding and layout of the communication and outreach materials.

  • What is the basic project objective to which the consultancy is related
  • The overall goal of this consultancy is to provide technical support to UNICEF Maldives MCO in designing a desk-top calendar, document folder and note books to be used as communication and outreach materials by the organization.

  • – Design, brand and layout of communication products
  • Design products (guided by UNICEF publications and branding guidelines)
  • Review product designs with supervisor
  • Meeting with senior management to finalize product designs
  • 14 days
  • Design and layout package for:
  • 1 UNICEF Maldives desk-top calendar
  • 1 UNICEF Maldives document folder
  • 2 UNICEF Maldives note books (2 sizes)
  • – Finalize and handover of designs/layout of the communication products
  • All final designs must meet be submitted in print-ready format
  • Digital files of the products need to be in Adobe Illustrator format
  • A sample, hardcopy of each product must be submitted
  • 7 days
  • Final design and layout package (refer to deliverables above)
  • Print specifications for the designed products
  • Estimated duration of contract and deadline for submission of end-product
  • Duration: 21 working days (between January and February 2018)

  • Qualifications or specialized knowledge and/or experience required
  • Qualifications:

  • Specializing in graphic design and layout with proven experience (at least 3 years) of graphic production from start to published/printed product.
  • Proven expertise and experience in strong theoretical and practical background in graphic design, including the use of cutting edge design software. Show a clear and mature style of design. Good understanding of and use of new and evolving technologies and digital platforms for production (of communication products).
  • Have the ability to work under pressure, open to input/scrutiny and respect for tight deadlines.
  • Experience working with UN agencies and International Organizations would be desirable.
