Organization: UN Children’s Fund
Closing date: 22 May 2018

UNICEF works in some of the world’s toughest places, to reach the world’s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential.

Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.

And we never give up.

For every child, a champion

The Digital Strategy Section (DSS) within the Division of Communication comprises Web, Social Media and Multimedia teams working together to create compelling public-facing content and to provide digital services within the organization. Through multiple platforms and in multiple languages, DSS draws attention to the many facets of UNICEF’s work, encouraging public support, participation and action, as well as ensuring greater transparency and accountability.

Web stories, blog entries, photo essays, Facebook posts, Twitter campaigns, and videos for distribution via, YouTube, news media and other outlets and platforms – all are a part of our digital storytelling. By measuring and testing our efforts, we also use data to inform content and engagement choices.

DSS seeks to hire a consultant Web Developer to join UNICEF’s Web team. This consultant will provide Web development services for UNICEF’s websites managed within the corporate CMS. He or she will also participate in the technical work the organization has started to re-design and re-platform its main online properties including global, regional and country sites.

How can you make a difference?

UNICEF has engaged in a multiyear Digital Transformation Project that includes among the main deliverables a change of the current publishing platform for both websites and blogs. In parallel, UNICEF’s core digital team is continuing with the work needed to maintain the current publishing platform and to provide digital support around digital flagship publications, as well as other key communication initiatives with a digital component.

The consultant Web Developer is expected to provide Web development services and production support for both HQ and field offices mostly, in the OpenText/RedDot and Drupal 8 CMS. In addition, the consultant will be expected to participate actively in the daily scrum and sprint activities for Drupal 8 platform development.
