For 70 years, UNICEF has been working on the ground in 190 countries and territories to promote children’s survival, protection and development. The world’s largest provider of vaccines for developing countries, UNICEF supports child health and nutrition, good water and sanitation, quality basic education for all boys and girls, and the protection of children from violence, exploitation, and AIDS. UNICEF is funded entirely by the voluntary contributions of individuals, businesses, foundations and governments.

Major Tasks

  • Work with communication, fundraising and programmes sections in collecting and surveying existing literature and resources on the work of UNICEF Philippines for the past 70 years. Conduction of interviews and documentation is expected.
  • Find notable achievements, stories and personal testimonials that could be produced into simplified content for exhibit and activation materials.
  • Search back through the seventy years of UNICEF and identify a decade-focused role and contribution of UNICEF in the Philippines over the past seven decades. This will feed into a timeline showing transitions over the seven decades on UNICEF programming focus in terms of development, humanitarian and advocacy.
  • Collaborate and work closely with communication and fundraising teams basedin Manilain the development and production of interesting content that will be used for the exhibit and activation materials.
  • Work closely with UNICEF’s creative agencies and in-house creative support team to ensure fundraising materials are created and delivered according to UNICEF guidelines and standards, with compelling and effective content.
  • With guidance from both Section Heads, the consultant will make conscious balance of parallel, with some shades of differences, contributions for the use by Communication/Public Advocacy purposes and to develop fundraising materials for PFP.
  • Ensures all programmes case studies, photos, data and the like are properly stored and archived in easily accessible formats and databases, by the fundraising and communication team as needed.
  • Deliverables – Each deliverable will have a specific date within the 6 months duration

  • Overall narrative study using a decades approach on the story of UNICEF in the Philippines (minimum 20 pages with timeline, photos, quotes from UNICEF beneficiaries, partners, present/former staff, among others.)
  • Key contributions for the content in a particular angle for photo essay and narrative on key UNICEF programmes including one past and one present photo (in consultation)

  • Qualifications and Competencies of Successful Consultant

  • University degree in Communication, Journalism, Creative Arts, Marketing or related fields.
  • Minimum of five years of professional experience in some or all of the following areas:

  • Research
  • Journalism, editorial and creative writing and public relations
  • Marketing communications, particularly events
  • Long previous work experience with UNICEF is highly desired.
  • Fluency in English and Filipino, both oral and written.
